February 2026: New teaching post
Susanna Borsch and Felix Gutschi will lead the recorder class at the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK) starting in the winter semester 2026/27.
Susanna Borsch taught at the Hochschule für Musik Trossingen for twelve years and shaped the training of numerous students in the recorder department. Her focus in teaching at UdK lies in the field of early music. In both individual lessons and intensive ensemble work, students engage with a wide range of aspects of recorder practice—such as instrument types, repertoire selection, intonation, tuning, notation, ornamentation, and other stylistic features of Renaissance and Baroque music.

Susanna Borsch
biography
Susanna Borsch was born in Hamburg, Germany, and studied recorder with Walter van Hauwe at the Amsterdam Conservatory where she completed her teaching and solo/masters diplomas.
Her collaboration with composers on new solo and ensemble repertoire resulted in the recording of several CDs and many concerts in Europe, the Unites States and Australia.
A recorder virtuoso familiar with very diverse repertoires, Susanna Borsch is able to bridge many styles of music with complete ease. With her regular ensembles, she plays renaissance polyphony in a recorder consort setting, contemporary music with theatrical elements in mixed ensembles, historical-popular music of the 16th to the 20th century in a duo with the anglo concertina, and arranged settings of baroque, romantic and early-modern pieces for recorder quartet.
Since 2014 Susanna is the principal recorder teacher at the Musikhochschule Trossingen in the Black Forest -- in October 2026, she will start teaching at the University of the Arts in Berlin, together with colleague Felix Gutschi.
Susanna offers regular masterclasses at her studio in Bredevoort, details and dates you can find below.
